JOB ALERT: Ready-to-Work Program Facilitator

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The RTW program offered by TIAPEI is intended for youth aged 15-30 who are facing a barrier in their life holding them back from obtaining meaningful employment. The facilitators spend 8 weeks in classroom training with 10-15 participants based on the emerit Workplace Essentials workbook, while also participating in CPR/First Aid, WHMIS training, PEI BEST Service Excellence, Responsible Beverage Service, and Food Safety training, plus arranging for guest speakers and site visits to various tourism operations in the Charlottetown area. The participants are responsible, with the support of facilitators, to obtain a 12-week work placement of their choice in the tourism industry by the end of the 8-week classroom period.

Requirements: 

  • Education: Certificate in Adult Education, Bachelor of Education, or extensive experience in teaching adult programs
  • Experience: Minimum 1-3 years teaching adult education, or similar
  • Language: English: verbal and written *Additional languages considered an asset*

Specifics:

Report to the Program Coordinator for the Ready-to-Work Program weekly. This is an 8 ½ week term of employment for both positions including two additional prep days prior to program start and one day after to complete clean-up/ finalize their report. Duties include preparing teaching materials and outline for 8-week course, conduct course and program evaluation, lead discussion groups and seminars, identify needs of participants, support participants in employment search and retention.
